Reserve Officers Association: Defense Secretary Gates Enhances National Committee for Employer Support of Guard, Reserve

WASHINGTON, May 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Secretary of Defense Robert H. Gates enhanced the quality of representation of members of the Reserve Component with the appointment of Col. James G. Rebholz, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as National Chairman of the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).


Mr. Rebholz, a former National President of the Reserve Officers Association, has served as United States Secretary General to the International Confederation of Reserve Officers and brings a wealth of experience and diversity of skills to this position.


In 1998, Mr. Rebholz retired from the United States Air Force Reserve after 31 years in service to the nation and has excelled in his civilian capacity as an independent insurance agent for more than 40 years. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Rebholz served as Chair of the Wisconsin Committee of ESGR and chaired ESGR’s national strategic planning subcommittee.


Mr. Rebholz graduated from Marquette University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in both English and Philosophy. Mr. Rebholz has been married to the former Jean Boser for 33 years and they have six children.


The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) was established in 1972 and charged with a mission to gain and maintain active support from all public and private employers for members serving in the Reserve Component.


The appointment comes on the heels of the appointment of Maj. Gen. Robert W. Smith III, an immediate past president of ROA and serving executive committee member, to serve on the 14-member, Department of Defense task force that will make recommendations on the future of military healthcare. These appointments are a reflection of the many skilled and talented leaders that bring credibility and integrity to the Reserve Officers Association through their dedicated service to the nation.
