HERBSTER, Wis. — The Herbster Studio Art Tour will return Aug. 15-16, offering visitors an opportunity to explore eight working studios and meet local artists. Studios will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
Now in its 18th year, the annual tour showcases Herbster’s community of regionally and nationally recognized artists. Visitors can explore oil and botanical painting, weaving, woodturning, printmaking, photography, mixed media, fiber art and other creative disciplines.
Artists will be available throughout the weekend to discuss their techniques, materials, inspiration, and works in progress.
“Visitors coming to the tour tell me again and again how nice it is to meet the artist and see where their work is created,” Artist Jane Herrick said. “That personal aspect adds a new dimension, which in turn makes a meaningful connection between visitor and artist.”
The studios are located within the village of Herbster along Bark Point and Lenawee roads, allowing visitors to experience the full tour with minimal driving. Herbster is located along Lake Superior’s south shore between Cornucopia and Port Wing, approximately 25 miles west of Bayfield and 70 miles east of Duluth, Minnesota.
Participating artists include Dale Paulson, Sandi Coates, David Coates, Peter Wagner, Jane Herrick, Sandra Starck, Susan McDonald and Scott Sample. Their work ranges from woodturning and carving to photography, painting, printmaking, sculpture, textiles and mixed media.

The Herbster Community Club will also host its annual Corn and Brat Feed from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, offering tour visitors an opportunity to stop for lunch.
