Protect Our Care Wisconsin: STATEMENT: If Republicans won’t fix their health care crisis in congress, “voters will see them at the ballot box”

Washington, D.C. – After shutting down our government for 40 days, Donald Trump and Republicans showed once again that they don’t care about making health care affordable for American families. On Friday, Senate Republican Leader John Thune rejected Senate Democrats’ proposal to reopen the government and protect millions of hard-working Americans from exorbitant health care price hikes. On Saturday, Donald Trump renewed his everlasting wish to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which was echoed by Lindsey Graham, Rick Scott, and Bill Cassidy. Their actions showed the American people everything they need to know about Donald Trump and Republicans.

In response, Protect Our Care Chair Leslie Dach issued the following statement:

“Donald Trump and the Republican Party continued to show their true colors over the weekend. They don’t care about making health care affordable for their own constituents and hard-working Americans – they are more than happy to see premiums skyrocket. The American people have made it clear that they want affordable health care. While Democrats are fighting for everyday Americans, Republicans would rather give tax breaks to the richest in America than help hard-working people make ends meet. The GOP has made their bed. Now voters will see them at the ballot box.”
