New effort highlights the strength, stability, and local impact of Wisconsin’s unique community health plan market
(MADISON, Wis.) — The Wisconsin Association of Health Plans (WAHP) today announced the launch of a new statewide public education and awareness campaign designed to help Wisconsin residents, employers, and policymakers better understand the value of the state’s community health plans.
The campaign, titled “Your Health. Your Community. Your Plan.”, emphasizes the personal, local, and community-centered nature of Wisconsin’s health insurance market and highlights why Wisconsin is recognized nationally for its competitive and high-quality health plan landscape. The education effort will kick off April 19-25, 2026 with Wisconsin Community Health Plans Week to jump-start knowledge of and conversations about the importance of Wisconsin’s unique health care market and how it benefits all.
“Health insurance decisions are deeply personal, and in Wisconsin, they are also deeply local,” said John Nygren, chief executive officer, Wisconsin Association of Health Plans. “Community health plans are rooted here. They serve our neighbors, partner with our providers, and invest back into Wisconsin communities. This campaign reinforces that when you choose a community health plan, you’re strengthening your own health and the health of your community.”
Why Wisconsin Is Different
Wisconsin’s health insurance market stands out nationally for its strong regional competition and local accountability. Wisconsin is considered one of the most competitive commercial health insurance markets in the country. In addition, Wisconsin ranks #5 nationally for highest-rated health plans. This competitive structure helps preserve consumer choice, employer leverage, and plan innovation. Community health plans participate across commercial, Medicaid, and Marketplace markets, helping ensure stability and continuity of coverage for individuals and families as their life circumstances change.
Benefits for Consumers and Employers
During Wisconsin Community Health Plans week and beyond, the “Your Health. Your Community. Your Plan.” campaign will highlight how Wisconsin’s community health plans deliver:
For Consumers:
- Real choice through robust regional competition
- High-quality coverage with strong performance in prevention and chronic condition management
- Continuity through life changes across commercial and public coverage markets
- More affordable options supported by competition
For Employers:
- Competitive value that avoids single-carrier dominance
- Local partnerships that understand regional workforce and provider networks
“Community health plans are Wisconsin’s health plan home team,” Nygren added. “They compete aggressively, deliver high-quality coverage, and remain accountable to the communities they serve. It’s important to share that story and be proud that we have this market in our state.”
Statewide Outreach Effort
The “Your Health. Your Community. Your Plan.” campaign is designed to raise public awareness amid heightened national scrutiny of the health insurance sector and to ensure that Wisconsin’s community health plans are clearly differentiated as locally driven, community-focused insurers. The statewide campaign kicks off April 19-25th, 2026 with Wisconsin Community Health Plans Week, and will include a strategic earned media and social media educational series. Additional messaging in summer will include statewide radio, digital online advertising, social media advertising and toolkits that support member and strategic partner outreach. In addition, a dedicated website at www.WICommunityHealthPlans.com contains more information about community health plans, how they benefit the people of Wisconsin and a locator map on how to find a community health plan in your area.
