Rock County, April 9, 2026 – With nearly $2 million in new funding, nonprofit Acts Housing today announced plans to expand its services throughout Rock County and the launch of a new Beloit homeownership initiative. The nonprofit, which makes homeownership possible for buyers with income, credit, language, and other barriers, cited Hendricks Family Foundation, Beloit 200, and The Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation among recent contributors.

Acts Housing has operated in Beloit since 2019, and until recently, focused primarily on providing City residents with homebuyer and financial counseling, real estate, lending, and home rehab coaching services.

“Around the state and here in Rock County, families are facing a housing crisis as a lack of availability and affordability have made the dream of homeownership harder to achieve. Supply hasn’t kept up with demand and the total cost of homeownership, especially for families with low to moderate incomes, continues to rise,” said Acts Housing Vice President Kelly Andrew, who was also recently named Executive Director, Rock County and has relocated to the area.

“Through these generous gifts, Acts Housing will be able to support more local families in their pursuit of homeownership by increasing access to capital and affordable homes countywide,” she continued.

Service Expansion Throughout Rock County

Acts Housing plans to add capacity and expand its service area to include all of Rock County. This expansion is made possible with a $100,000 grant from the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation, a $50,000 contribution from a local individual donor, and continued fundraising efforts.

Additionally, in Beloit, The Hendricks Family Foundation has made a $750,000 donation to help fund Acts Housing services within the city over the next three years. This is the Foundation’s second Acts contribution. Their original grant of nearly $1.2 million helped Acts open its Beloit office.

“We are proud to have been a founding supporter of Acts Housing’s Beloit activities,” said Diane Hendricks, president of the Hendricks Family Foundation. “We know homeownership is one of the best wealth building strategies available to families and we are pleased to continue our partnership with Acts Housing as they walk alongside families to help them achieve their homeownership dream.”

During the past six years, 156 local families have purchased homes through Acts Housing, 210 families have been pre-approved for financing from Acts and other lenders, and more than 200 families are currently working toward homeownership with an Acts homebuyer coach. Overall, through home purchases and owner-occupant rehab projects, more than $20 million has been invested locally through Acts Housing’s efforts and nearly 200 youngsters are in stable, affordable housing.

“We are grateful to the Hendricks Family Foundation for their continued commitment to our mission and confidence in our work,” Andrew said. “Their support will underpin our future progress and ability to empower more area families through homeownership.”

The Foundation is also a major contributor, donating $500,000, to Beloit 200’s investment in Acts Housing’s initiative aimed at increasing the local supply of affordable homes. The division, Acts Homes, was launched locally in 2025 to buy, rehab in partnership with local contractors, and sell affordable homes to owner-occupants who have completed homebuyer education classes from Acts or other HUD-certified agencies.

Acts Homes reinvests sale proceeds in a revolving fund to support continued acquisition and rehab activity. The division has already purchased 11 local homes, of which four have sold to area families. Beloit 200, a private sector civic organization, provided the initial $1 million investment for Acts Homes.

The division plans to buy, rehab, and sell at least 10 homes a year, targeting housing that is currently vacant or used for rentals. Acts Homes was first launched in Milwaukee in 2023, where Acts was founded in 1995. To date, Acts Homes has purchased and rehabbed more than 150 homes in that market of which 100 have sold.

With offices in Beloit and Milwaukee, more than 4,500 families have purchased homes through Acts Housing since its founding in 1995 and 70% of them still own their original home.
