AARP Wisconsin: Madison Housing Week returns May 3-8 with events to be held citywide

MADISON, WI – Madison Housing Week is returning with a renewed call for community connection, bold ideas, and collaborative action around the future of housing in the city. This year’s theme, “Rooted and Rising,” asks a timely question – As our population grows, how do we ground our communities in people and neighborhoods while actively shaping a stronger housing future?

From Sunday, May 3 to Friday, May 8, city residents are invited to participate in free daily inperson gatherings and virtual lunchtime sessions designed to encourage dialogue and action.

Now in its third year, Madison Housing Week brings together advocates, designers, builders, policymakers, and community members to explore practical solutions and spark new ideas. The week is coordinated by the Madison Housing Coalition, a partnership of AARP Wisconsin, the Realtors Association of South Central Wisconsin (RASCW), the Madison Area Builders Association, and Accessible Housing Wisconsin.

“AARP Wisconsin is proud to partner in fostering a community conversation on a topic that affects us all,” said Darrin Wasniewski, Senior Associate State Director for Community Outreach at AARP Wisconsin. “We continue to hear from older adults who want to stay in their neighborhoods but feel limited by the options available. This week gives us a chance to listen, learn, and work together on solutions that help every neighbor feel rooted and supported.”
