MADISON, Wis. – UW Health has been working to donate childcare equipment to organizations that will use it to continue to serve the community. This equipment came from the temporary childcare center it supported with UnityPoint Health-Meriter and Epic Systems Corp. So far, the following has been donated:
- 35 beds and 50 mattresses to the YWCA
- 4 strollers, 4 highchairs, 16 pack and plays, and baby/child safety products such as baby gates and bed rails to Today Not Tomorrow
- 2 car seats to Meadowood Health Partnership
- 4 children’s tables and 16 children’s chairs to One City Schools
Seven toddler tables and 39 toddler chairs will also be donated soon.
“We are a proud partner with UW Health and are so appreciative of the beds and mattresses that were donated to YWCA Madison for our residents. Thank you so much for your generosity!” said Vanessa McDowell, YWCA Madison CEO.
In the last several weeks, UW Health also donated approximately 282 gallons of hand sanitizer to community organizations. Recipients include the Ho-Chunk Nation, Latino Health Council, Porchlight Inc., Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness, Hmong Institute, Meadowood Health Partnership and Sauk Prairie Healthcare. Sauk Prairie then distributed the sanitizer to local schools and long-term care facilities. These donations, worth about $8,500, will help protect the community – including some of our most vulnerable neighbors – from COVID-19.
This surplus of hand sanitizer was acquired during COVID-19 surge preparation. When UW Sheray Wallace, Meadowood Health Partnership, received several gallons of the hand sanitizer in addition to other support from UW Health. “If it wasn’t for the support UW Health has given me, I wouldn’t have been able to serve the community and be as successful,” said Wallace.
“We’ve been putting the hand sanitizer to good use. Volunteers use it when we distribute food to our community,” said Peng Her, Hmong Institute.
UW Health works to support patients and the community in an equitable, financially responsible and sustainable way, promoting health and wellness in and out of the hospital and clinics.
