UW-Milwaukee student entrepreneurs win Wisconsin Big Idea
UW-Extension Lean Startup contest advances business ideas
MADISON, Wis. – UW-Milwaukee student entrepreneurs placed first in UW-Extension’s inaugural Wisconsin Big Idea Tournament and will represent the state at the International Business Model Competition.
The team is made up of two current Air National Guard members, Tom Burden and Janie Asberry, and U.S. Air Force veteran Shawn Petros. They are developing safe, non-corrosive and convenient mats that provide surfaces on which aerospace mechanics can stand or place tools. Their company, Grypshon, is planning to sell products to the military. Their goal is to maximize efficiency, productivity and safety of military members in a cost-effective manner.
