Department of Financial Institutions and Remote Notary Council approve Notaron technology for use by Wisconsin notaries performing remote online notarial acts
MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Sept. 9, 2026 — Notaron, an online notary platform, has been approved by the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions (DFI), with the advice and consent of the Wisconsin Remote Notary Council, as a provider of technology for remote online notarization in Wisconsin.
The approval means Wisconsin-commissioned notaries may use Notaron’s technology to perform eligible remote online notarial acts in accordance with Wisconsin law and state requirements.
In its approval notice to Notaron, the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions stated that it had approved the organization “as a provider of technology for remote online notarization in Wisconsin” with the advice and consent of the Remote Notary Council.
Notaron has also been added to the Wisconsin DFI’s official list of approved Remote Online Notarization technology providers available for use by Wisconsin notaries.
Wisconsin Requires State-Approved RON Technology
Remote Online Notarization was authorized in Wisconsin through Wisconsin Act 125, bipartisan legislation signed into law in 2020.
The law created the five-member Wisconsin Remote Notary Council and established safeguards governing the performance of remote online notarial acts.
Under Wisconsin’s framework, notaries performing Remote Online Notarization must use communication technology that has been approved under standards established by the Department of Financial Institutions and Remote Notary Council.
Technology providers seeking approval must submit an application to DFI, demonstrate how their systems satisfy Wisconsin’s legal and security requirements, and appear before the Remote Notary Council to answer questions regarding their technology, safeguards and capabilities.

Wisconsin-commissioned notaries who meet the state’s requirements for Remote Online Notarization can now use Notaron to perform eligible notarizations online.

The approval gives Wisconsin residents, attorneys, businesses, lenders, title professionals and other organizations another state-approved technology option for completing eligible notarizations remotely.
A customer using Notaron can upload a document, complete required identity verification, meet with a commissioned notary through live audio and video, electronically sign the document and receive the completed notarized document online.
The platform is browser-based and designed to allow eligible notarizations to be completed without the signer and notary being physically present in the same location.
