Milwaukee – At least 10 food trucks will traverse the industrial hub of the Granville Business
Improvement District Friday as “Foodie Fridays,” an initiative tested with great success in 2013,
returns to spice up lunchtime for employees in the local area.
Common to downtown Milwaukee locations, the food trucks will be serving every Friday from
11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Granville BID, through Oct. 31. An estimated 500 hungry workers ate at
three trucks during a trial of Foodie Fridays in October. With more than triple the number of food
trucks participating in 2014, even more employees in the Granville BID are expected to enjoy the
tremendous variety of culinary offerings brought almost to their employers’ doorsteps.
Foodie Fridays, organized by the Granville BID, will have food trucks parked in the industrial park
area between Tower Avenue, 70th
direct diners to the trucks’ locations, which will rotate through Halloween.
Participating food trucks are The Gouda Girls, The Fast Foodie, Chameleon, Simmer, Eats ‘n Treats,
Hardwood Café, Fivestar Nacho, Bubble Tea Fusion, Hattie’s and FryBread N Things.
“We are very pleased to bring back Foodie Fridays for 2014 after receiving such a positive response
last year,” said Mark Krause, Chair of the Granville BID Board of Directors. “Foodie Fridays was
created after members of the business improvement district requested more local dining options
for their employees. The district staff did a great job of recruiting additional food truck vendors.
Everyone who works in the area can look forward to trying something new for lunch on Fridays.”
Free delivery from the food trucks will begin June 6 for orders of $50 or more. Foodie Fridays orders
for delivery can be placed by calling the BID office, or the food vendors directly, up until 2 p.m.
Thursdays. Delivery is limited to businesses located within the Granville BID.
Created in February 2013 to spur economic development and revitalization of Milwaukee’s far
northwest side, the Granville Business Improvement District contains more than 300 businesses
covering a broad swath of industrial, service and retail market segments. The district hosts
thousands of employees every work day, and is home to the most concentrated base of industrial
employment in Wisconsin.
