WISCONSIN-BASED ANGELIC BAKEHOUSE TO BREAK GROUND ON NEW FACILITY IN CUDAHY

CUDAHY, Wis. – On Wednesday, May 15 at 9:30 a.m., Angelic Bakehouse will celebrate the groundbreaking of its new production facility in Cudahy. Mayor of Cudahy John Hohenfeldt, the city’s Director of Economic Development Brian Biernat, President and CEO of Angelic Bakehouse Jenny Marino, company Executive Vice President/husband James Marino and other dignitaries will participate in the ceremony. The building will be located at 3275 E. Layton Ave.

The new facility will help the family-owned business meet the growing demand for its sprouted grain products including breads, buns, rolls, pizza dough and specialty items. The company, which currently has a facility in Waukesha, anticipates relocating its operation in the fall of this year to the new building.

“The City of Cudahy has welcomed us with open arms, and we’re very anxious to become a part of the community,” said President and CEO Jenny Marino. “I applaud Mayor Hohenfeldt, Economic Director Biernat and other city officials for working with us as partners in this effort. Cudahy is a great community, and we look forward to much success and growth at this location. Our new facility helps position us for further expansion into the national market as more and more consumers seek delicious sprouted grain products to fit with a healthy lifestyle. We’re proud to be partners with Cudahy.”

The new facility will likely start making products in September and totals about 22,000 square feet with 3,900 square feet for office and employee facilities. The $2.3 million project was financed with the help of BMO Harris Bank.

“We are honored that Angelic Bakehouse has selected the City of Cudahy as its new home,” said Cudahy Mayor John Hohenfeldt. “This family-owned businesses is a positive benefit to the City and will add more jobs and help our community grow. It also shows the private sector that the City of Cudahy is an excellent place to build and expand, with a strong community foundation and hardworking people.”

Angelic Bakehouse, formerly known as Cybros The Sprouted Bakehouse, was purchased by the Marino family in 2009. The company is the only producer in the central U.S. of fresh, sprouted grain products. The bread is made with GMO-free grains, no preservatives, U.S.-sourced honey and sunflower oil. It recently attained the OK-Pas Yisroel Kosher Certification, one of the world’s most respected symbols of kosher approval.

“It’s been a rollercoaster of excitement these past few months,” said Jenny Marino. “From changing our company name to starting the construction of a new facility, we have received tremendous consumer response to our product and are thrilled to have Cudahy as our new home. We’re ready to start the next chapter of our business history here and we only see more delicious things in our future.”

Wahlgren-Schwenn Inc. of Menomonee Falls provided architectural services and construction management for the building. The historic nature of the neighborhood was considered when building the facility, which reflects an early twentieth century appearance. The facility utilizes colored masonry face brick and decorative masonry units, along with decorative exterior steel framing elements.
