UW-Madison Corporate Open House

Representatives from more than 40 companies, mostly from Wisconsin, will get a deeper look on Thursday (July 12) at ways that university-industry partnerships can strengthen corporate competitiveness.

The first University of Wisconsin-Madison Corporate Open House, slated for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the College of Engineering campus, will feature a morning panel discussion on corporate partnerships and afternoon breakout sessions on a variety of business-related services. Guests can also tour the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery and the Wisconsin Energy Institute.

Reporters may be interested in the 11 a.m.-noon panel featuring some successful examples of university-industry partnerships. The discussion, moderated by Wisconsin Technology Council Director Tom Still, will be in 1610 Engineering Hall.

Panelists include Paul Shane, human resources manager, Global Finance at Rockwell Automation; Louise Hemstead, chief operating officer of Organic Valley Farms; Mike Andrew, director of government affairs and external communications at Johnson Controls; and Ann Renckens, vice president of finance and strategy at General Mills.

The day is co-sponsored by the UW-Madison Office of Corporate Relations, the UW Foundation and the Wisconsin Alumni Association. Participating schools and colleges include engineering, agricultural and life sciences and business.
