APPLETON, WI, February 27, 2015 – First Business Bank is now the area’s newest Preferred Lender (PLP) for SBA loans. First Business Bank received the prestigious Preferred Lender (PLP) designation from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) on January 27, 2015. The Bank was recognized for its SBA lending expertise and commitment to providing financial assistance to the small business community.

As a Preferred Lender, First Business is now able to offer clients the fastest and most efficient access to the wide range of lending programs offered by the SBA. Preferred Lender status is earned by banks with a strong SBA record and demonstrated proficiency in processing and servicing SBA loans. “Our clients will enjoy a streamlined and accelerated process, thanks to the PLP designation,” stated Mark Meloy, President & CEO of First Business Bank.

This expanded commitment to SBA lending was a strategic move for First Business Bank. The company’s holding company, First Business Financial Services, Inc., acquired Alterra Bank in 2014. Alterra, a niche business bank serving the greater Kansas City area, has been the number one SBA lender in the Kansas City district since 2012 and is widely known for its support for entrepreneurship.

“First Business has always been dedicated to entrepreneurs,” stated Mickey Noone, President- Northeast of First Business Bank. “With this PLP designation, we’re increasing our commitment and adding new tools to better serve Wisconsin businesses and maintain our high-touch approach to client service.”
