NFIB says election victory reaffirms pro-growth policies, calls on Madison to get back to work on the important challenges.

Madison (June 6, 2012) – The state’s leading advocate for small business owners congratulated Governor Scott Walker and Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch this evening for having held off a labor-backed recall effort with a victory that validates their pro-growth agenda.

“Wisconsin voters agreed this evening that we are on the right track,” said NFIB State Director Bill G. Smith. “Now it’s time for everyone in Madison to put politics aside and get back to work on building a better economy.”

NFIB, which represents more than 11,000 small business owners in Wisconsin, enthusiastically supported Walker in 2010 and again last week because of his commitment to lower taxes, spending reform, regulatory reform and a more predictable legal system.

“Governor Walker and Lt. Governor Kleefisch have shown exceptional political leadership because their actions have matched their rhetoric,” said Smith. “They promised to take on the tough problems in order to boost our competitiveness, and in the course of the last two years they’ve kept those promises.”

“Small business could not have asked for a better partnership and we are very pleased by the results tonight,” he continued.

Smith said that it’s time now for everyone in Madison to give politics a rest and focus on improving the state’s economy.

“This campaign has been a distraction, and I think that the election results reflect a sense of frustration among voters who want our leaders to work together on policies that create jobs and opportunities,” said Smith. “Now it’s time to get back to work, and we’re eager to work with both sides of the aisle on the reforms that will move our State forward.”
