The Madison Community Foundation is now accepting Letters of Inquiry for its July 15, 2011 grant deadline for two grant cycles: the Competitive Community Impact grants and the Pleasant Rowland Great Performance Fund for Theater grants.

Competitive Community Impact Grants

The Madison Community Foundation awards community impact grants in seven focus areas – Arts & Culture, Children, Community Development, Elderly, Environment, Learning and Youth. Letters of inquiry must be submitted online through the Madison Community Foundation web site at http://www.madisoncommunityfoundation.org. If invited to apply, full proposals are due September 1, 2011. Grant application materials and lists of previous grants can also be obtained via the Madison Community Foundation web site.

Pleasant Rowland Great Performance Fund for Theater grants

MCF will hold one competitive theater grant cycle in 2011. Professional theater companies seeking to perform at the Overture Center may submit grant applications to the Pleasant Rowland Great Performance Fund for Theater by July 15, 2011. Letters of Inquiry will be reviewed and select applicants will be invited to submit a full grant application. The grant dollars, totaling approximately $150,000 annually, are for the purpose of supporting production costs associated with live theater in Overture Center.

Grants are made possible by endowments funded through MCF by the generosity and vision of individuals, families and organizations committed to impacting their communities for generations to come.

The Madison Community Foundation’s grantmaking philosophy is to build on the community’s assets through both capital and program grants. Capital grants support the construction, purchase and renovation of facilities, land acquisition, and occasionally the purchase of vehicles or equipment. Program grants support new programs or expansion of existing programs that have a track record of success.

The Madison Community Foundation is comprised of over 925 individual funds with total assets over $130 million. In 2010, more than $7.34 million was distributed from over 925 funds to charitable organizations throughout Dane County, across the United States, and worldwide. Of this amount, over $1.5 million was distributed via competitive grant cycles.
