Madison – Over the coming weeks, Governor Scott Walker and key economic development Cabinet Secretaries will hold a series of Job Creation Forums with business leaders in various parts of the state to listen to the concerns of job creators and have a discussion of what the state can do to encourage job growth.

“With the national economy slowing and Washington facing more potential gridlock we will be talking with job creators across the state about what more Wisconsin can do to encourage job growth here,” said Governor Walker. “Wisconsin has outperformed the nation this year, but we aren’t immune from what’s happening nationally. As Washington plays politics with jobs, my administration will continue to listen to ways we can create stability and confidence in our state. These forums will allow us to talk with job creators on the frontlines about what more the state can do to encourage more jobs in Wisconsin.”

The Governor will be joined at the forums by the Secretary or Deputy Secretary (or their equivalent) of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, the Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Financial Institutions, the Department of Tourism, the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority, and the Department of Workforce Development.

“We are looking forward to meeting with the Governor and his Administration Officials to include our input into the important discussion of creating jobs. It is important to include real world concerns and what is holding people back in this current economic condition in which we all find ourselves,” said Dick Granchalek, President of the La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce.

“We welcome Governor Walker’s continued focus on jobs and his commitment to making sure his administration is a strong partner working side by side with the business people on the front lines of job creation and economic growth in Wisconsin,” said Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce President Tim Sheehy.

At the forums the Governor and administration officials will be joined by business owners and other business representatives who will share their ideas on what more the state could be doing to help job creation. The forums will focus on issues like access to capital, regulatory reform, permit reform, tax reform, and workforce development. The first forum is scheduled to happen next week in La Crosse with additional forums scheduled for Milwaukee and Green Bay.
