Madison–Today Governor Scott Walker named Wendy Riemann as Wisconsin’s Director of Federal Relations. Riemann will work on behalf of state agencies, members of the administration, and others to advocate for federal government related policies that benefit Wisconsin residents.
“Wendy Riemann is a strong leader with the skills to effectively represent our administration in Washington, D.C.,” Governor Scott Walker said. “Coordination between federal and state agencies is important and Wendy’s experience in both federal and state government will serve us well as we help Wisconsin’s private sector create 250,000 jobs by 2015.”
“I look forward to continuing my work with the entire Wisconsin congressional delegation, as well as working with Governor Walker and his administration, to promote our state and be a strong advocate for all Wisconsin residents on federal policies impacting them,” Riemann said.
Since 2009, Riemann, a Sheboygan native, has worked as Communications Director for Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner (WI-05) in Washington, D.C. Before that she worked for Secretary Tommy Thompson at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, oversaw communications at the Florida Department of Health, served as speechwriter to Governor Jeb Bush, and did public relations in the private sector. Riemann received her master’s degree in communication from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Similar to the Governor, Riemann also became interested in government service after attending both Badger Girls State and Girls Nation.
