Ever give an elevator pitch?
That’s a little speech that’s short enough to be given during an elevator ride — something entrepreneurs find to be an essential part of getting financing …or publicity.
Entrepreneurs will get to test their skills this afternoon in the “Elevator Pitch Olympics” that’s part of the annual Wisconsin Early Stage Symposium taking place in Madison this week.
The program allows entrepreneurs to make 90-second presentations to a panel of eight judges. During the 90 seconds, participants will cover the highlights of their business plan or idea. Immediately afterwards, presenters will get their score and constructive feedback from the judges.
Also today at the symposium, entrepreneurs will hear from Governor Jim Doyle and Doyle’s new Commerce secretary, Richard Leinenkugel. It’s billed as Leinenkugel’s first major address to members of the tech community.
Up to 20 new companies are presenting products at the symposium, produced by the Wisconsin Technology Council.
