MADISON – Southeastern Wisconsin residents will have a unique opportunity on Oct. 10 to hear about the promises and limitations of stem cell research directly from the Wisconsin professors and researchers working in the field.
On Tuesday, Oct. 10, renowned stem cell researcher and University of Wisconsin-Madison Professor Clive Svendsen and Medical College of Wisconsin Professors Stephen Duncan and John Lough will speak at a free, public event titled “Stem Cells 101.” The program will be held at the Medical College of Wisconsin at 8701 Watertown Plank Road, Milwaukee, from 6-7 p.m.
Eight years after UW-Madison scientist Jamie Thomson grew human embryonic stem cells in a lab, the issue remains confusing and controversial. Visitors to this event will have an opportunity to talk directly with stem cell researchers, who will be able to separate the facts from the myths in the national debate.
