MADISON – Governor Jim Doyle today announced that the City of Baraboo, Sauk County, will receive a Community Development Block Grant Public Facilities for Economic Development (CDBG-PFED) grant totaling $386,000 to make public facilities improvements for an expanding business.

“My Grow Wisconsin plan calls for investing in our infrastructure to help our communities expand, and create jobs,” Governor Doyle said. “I am pleased that the City of Baraboo will use this grant to extend its streets, and sanitary sewer and water mains to underdeveloped lands so that Teel Plastics can construct its headquarters in this community, and provide more than 75 new jobs for Baraboo.”

Baraboo will extend streets, sanitary sewer and water mains, storm sewer mains, and gas and electric facilities to its west edge to allow Teel Plastics, Inc. to construct a new manufacturing plant and company headquarters on a portion of 80 acres of underdeveloped land. Teel Plastics, Inc. specializes in the custom manufacture of close tolerance plastic tubing and profile products. The project will create 76 jobs and retain more than 251 jobs.

CDBG-PFED grants play an important role in helping communities finance a wide range of projects designed to enhance the economic vitality of the community through the provision of community buildings, the expansion of tax base, job creation, and increased private investment in downtowns.
