Madison, WI –The Madison Area Builders Association (MABA) Green Built Home Committee and the National Association of the Remodeling Industry Madison Chapter (NARI) Environmental Practices Committee have joined forces to co-host a Green Home Event scheduled for Sunday, October 4th from noon to 4p.m. located at Monona Grove High School.

The event is free to the public and is focused toward the consumer who is interested in saving money, saving energy and conserving the environment when building or remodeling. Business owners from both organizations will be in attendance, exhibiting and showcasing their environmentally friendly products and practices. Educational seminars will explain local green home constructionand remodeling guidelines, green products, point out incentives associated with energy efficiency and renewable energy products and help you understand the important connection between sustainability and the way you live.

“We thought it was time that our respective organizations come together and show to the public that as builders and remodelers, we are everyday on the front lines of environmental stewardship and this event is a great way to showcase how that’s done,” states Dave Borski from MG&E, chair of the co-organization committee and overseeing the green event. “This is a great opportunity for those interested in building or remodeling to learn why local businesses find this issue important and to speak one-on-one with them.”

Volunteers from both MABA and NARI will be available to answer green building and green remodeling questions in “Ask the Expert” booths.

The Madison Area Builders Association (MABA) is a non-profit trade organization dedicated to promoting a positive business environment by uniting, serving, and representing all aspects of the building industry. In 1999, MABA teamed with Wisconsin Environmental Initiative to create the first green building program in the Midwest, Green Built Home.

The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) Madison Chapter represents over 270 local contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, designers, and support businesses dedicated to professional remodeling.

NARI’s Environmental Practices committee pushes to increase the awareness of Green and Sustainable remodeling and business practices within the organization itself and the public domain.
