Hastings Air Energy Control, Inc.: Clearing the air is good for business

New Berlin’s Hastings Air Energy Control, Inc., Grows by Focusing on Air Cleaning Products and Cutting Ventilation Costs

New Berlin, Wis. (June 29, 2009) – Clean air has kept Hastings Air Energy Control, Inc., aloft for 40 years as the firm’s clients, including machining and welding shops, schools, fire-houses, service garages and wood shops rely on the firm’s products and services to protect workers from harmful airborne contaminants and save on operating costs.

“We recently introduced an industrial ventilation energy control system, called the IVEC™ System that reduced the costs our clients were spending on electricity to operate dust collectors, mist collectors, air cleaners and exhaust systems by as much as 90 percent,” said DuWayne Bohrer, IVEC product manager. “That’s not only good for the environment, it’s good for business.”

IVEC, which works on new or existing ventilation equipment, reduces electricity costs by adjusting the blower speed on an as needed basis, while conventional systems work at the “worst case” scenario speed all the time. Using only the exact energy needed to do the job, it not only maximizes energy efficiencies and minimizes energy use, IVEC also reduces noise, extends filter life, enhances ventilation performance, and leads to longer intervals between maintenance.

“One company’s energy use dropped so dramatically after installing IVEC that the electric company sent a utility use expert to investigate the sudden change,” Bohrer said. “When the electric company found out that there was no foul play involved, but a control system that dramatically reduced electricity use, they wanted to know all about it, too.”

A room and vehicle decontamination system that kills viruses, including swine flu/H1N1, is another popular product distributed by Hastings Air Energy Control. Zimek uses a dry mist disinfectant that settles on every surface and kills viruses, bacteria and other harmful environmental contaminants, including toxic mold.

“Zimek’s micro-particulates are small enough to go where the larger particles from sprays cannot reach,” said Kevin Rohde, Hastings Air Energy Control general manager. “The system is safely used to sanitize health care facilities, schools, government and military facilities, commercial buildings, buses, fire rescue vehicles and more.”

Hastings Air Energy Control is a family owned, Inc. 5000 company that, in addition to its IVEC and Zimek Systems, provides in-plant air filtration systems, replacement filters and vehicle exhaust removal equipment. Throughout the upper Midwest, Hastings Air Energy Control is known as a leader and innovator in the air cleaning industry.

This summer, Hastings Air Energy Control is marking its 40th anniversary in the air cleaning business by inviting customers and prospects from throughout the region to its newly expanded, working showroom. While there, visitors will also get to see a new “plug and play” style dust collector specifically designed for schools and training facilities. The collector allows schools to easily upgrade their facilities to protect students from harmful fumes and dust while meeting more stringent government regulations. As education facilities look to train workers in fields facing shortages, such as welding, being able to quickly meet the necessary air cleaning regulations is appealing.

Hastings’ showroom is located at the firm’s headquarters in New Berlin’s Westridge Business Park at 5555 S. Westridge Drive. The facility includes a 2,500 square foot showroom, offices and warehouse space.
