ELKHART LAKE, Wis., Sept. 8, 2026 – Nearly 300 vintage and historic race cars will bring decades of motorsports history back to life during the Art on Wheels Vintage Weekend with VSCDA, September 18-20 at Road America.
The three-day event offers fans a rare opportunity to see carefully restored race cars compete on Road America’s legendary four-mile, 14-turn circuit. Eleven racing classes will showcase a wide range of machinery, from classic sports cars and open-wheel racers to powerful American muscle cars.
A major highlight of the weekend will be a special tribute celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Trans-American Championship. The invitational will feature Trans Am cars representing the years from 1966 through 2020, creating one of the most complete collections of Trans Am machinery ever assembled. Separate championship groups for cars over and under 2.5 liters, along with a special invitational race, will add to the weekend’s on-track action.
Unlike many major racing events, the Art on Wheels Vintage Weekend gives spectators open access to the paddock. Fans can walk among the cars, speak with drivers and crews, and see the craftsmanship required to preserve and race these historic machines.
The action will extend beyond the main circuit throughout the weekend. Public karting will be available at the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturday at the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex, more than 150 competitors will take on the Road America Autocross Series, where precision driving and quick reactions are put to the test. Sunday brings the Road America Supermoto Series to the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex, with more than 100 competitors racing motorcycles across a demanding course.
Families can explore Road America’s scenic 640-acre property, play the free 18-hole disc golf course, visit the Paddock Shop, enjoy local food and beverages, and use the weekend shuttle to reach viewing areas around the circuit.
Veterans, active-duty military members, reservists and retired military personnel receive free admission with identification. Students presenting a current-year student ID receive $10 off admission at the gate.
