Oak Bank: Annual pumpkin tradition returns to Fitchburg October 10

More than 40,000 pumpkins have found their way into local homes, with proceeds benefiting area nonprofits.

Fitchburg, WI – It’s a sure sign of fall in Fitchburg! Oak Bank’s annual Great Pumpkin Give Away returns Saturday, October 10, bringing families together for a morning of pumpkins, fall fun and community giving.

Families can enjoy a variety of activities at the event, including visits with local mascots, tractor-drawn wagon rides and other family-friendly activities.

“Our Great Pumpkin Give Away is a community tradition we look forward to hosting every year,” said Terry Taylor, President at Oak Bank. “There’s something special about helping families and friends spend time together as they pick out the perfect pumpkin and enjoy fall weather.”

Since Oak Bank started the annual Great Pumpkin Giveaway in 2000, more than 40,000 pumpkins have found their way into local homes. The tradition also has a positive impact beyond the day of the event, with cash donations collected for the pumpkins going directly to a local nonprofit organization. This year, GiGi’s Playhouse Madison is the recipient.

Recently relocated to Fitchburg, GiGi’s Playhouse Madison is dedicated to changing the way the world views Down syndrome and promoting global acceptance. The organization provides free educational, therapeutic, and career development programs for individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and the community.

“Giving back is at the heart of who we are at Oak Bank, and we’re especially proud to support GiGi’s Playhouse Madison this year,” said Taylor. “Our Great Pumpkin Give Away brings our community together while supporting an organization making a meaningful difference for local families.”

The Great Pumpkin Give Away will take place on Saturday, October 10, from 9 a.m. to noon at 5951 McKee Road in Fitchburg. For more information, visit oak.bank/pumpkin.
