First reported in NOTUS, Care Force One Will Travel Across 14 States, Make 37 Stops, and Cover Nearly 8,000 Miles Throughout October
Washington, D.C. — Today, Protect Our Care is announcing the next major phase of its largest grassroots campaign to date, “Sick of It! Fix Health Care Now.” First reported in NOTUS, Protect Our Care is hitting the road with a nationwide bus tour calling out Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress for taking a wrecking ball to our health care system in order to fund tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. Beginning October 5, Care Force One will make nearly 40 stops across four weeks, taking the fight directly to communities where families are hit hardest by rising health care costs and coverage losses. The tour will hold lawmakers accountable and demand solutions that make health care more affordable, accessible, and equitable in 2027 and beyond.
Throughout the tour, Protect Our Care will be joined by elected officials, storytellers, providers, and advocates who are fed up with a health care system that has been wrecked after Donald Trump and Republicans slashed $1 trillion from Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to fund tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. Every stop will feature real stories of people impacted by Republican cuts to health care, and speakers will call on lawmakers to enact commonsense health care solutions, including restoring tax credits to lower insurance premiums, reversing devastating Medicaid cuts, expanding Medicare drug price negotiations, and extending out-of-pocket spending caps for prescription drugs.
Health care affordability has become the defining issue leading up to the November elections. Recent polling from Navigator and KFF found that the cost of health care is the top concern for families going into November’s midterms, with over half of voters considering it extremely important for candidates to discuss health care costs. Similarly, Gallup polling showed “the availability and affordability of health care” topped the chart of American worries about key issues, as half of U.S. adults can’t afford health care anymore. In an Axios-Ipsos poll, voters said they’re more likely to vote for candidates that support lowering health care costs.

When Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress pushed through the largest health care cuts in history, they knew that meant bankrupting families, shutting down hospitals, and putting lives in jeopardy. But they grossly underestimated the ire of the American people who are living the consequences of GOP cuts. The frustration on the ground is growing every single day, and Republicans will pay at the ballot box in November.”
