(Brown County, Wis.) – Heroes for Healthcare, Brown County, Emplify Health by Bellin, and Aurora Health Care are excited to announce that a $200,000 Talent Recruitment Grant (TRG) from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation is being put into action to attract new residents from outside the state to help strengthen economic development and growth in healthcare right here in Brown County.
“Brown County is home to strong healthcare organizations who are looking for medically trained veterans to fill positions such as LPNs and RNs,” says Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach. “We believe that any help that we can have in attracting these brave men and women to our community and demonstrate that it’s an exceptional place to live, work, and build a future, is worth it.”
“Heroes for Healthcare has already begun to execute an active, data-driven strategy to recruit ten (10) military medically trained medics, corpsmen, and medical technicians, and ten (10) veterans with RN licenses to relocate to Brown County,” says Laura Hanoski, President of Heroes for Healthcare. “Education and health services represent the largest sectors of the County’s economy and developing a talent pipeline to address workforce shortages and maintain quality accessible healthcare is the primary goal of the grant.”
Heroes for Healthcare has established partnerships with Emplify Health by Bellin and Aurora Health Care and they are committed to hiring medically trained and licensed veterans.

“Aurora Health Care is proud to support Heroes for Healthcare’s effort to recruit medically trained veterans and veteran nurses to Brown County,” said Aurora BayCare Medical Center Registered Nurse and Chair of the ABMC Veterans Committee, Molly Siebold. “Veterans possess valuable medical training, real-world clinical experience and a mission-driven approach to service. Through this partnership, we’re helping create pathways for these professionals to continue their careers in healthcare while strengthening access to care for patients across Northeast Wisconsin.”
The combined economic impact in annual compensation for LPN’s & RN’s $1,676,000, and the combined local household spending impact is $764,800 per year.
A unique feature of the Talent Recruitment Grant program is the ability to offer financial incentives to assist veteran households with relocation expenses. Heroes for Healthcare incentive is $7,500, per household.
