GREEN BAY/LA CROSSE — Shana Lewis-Washington, SHRM-SCP, can trace her leadership experience to two mentors early in her career.
“I have been fortunate to learn from mentors who shaped the way I lead. One taught me the importance of entering a new organization with humility and curiosity—to listen first, learn deeply, and honor the strengths that already exist before seeking change,” Shana shares. “Another mentor challenged me to think boldly, embrace innovation, and continually envision what is possible. Together, those lessons have shaped a leadership philosophy grounded in both thoughtful stewardship and forward-looking transformation.”
Emplify Health is proud to welcome Shana and her more than 20 years of enterprise talent leadership as the new Vice President of Talent Acquisition, Development and Learning. Shana most recently led workforce development and talent supply innovation initiatives at Trinity Health. She played a key role in designing national hiring strategies, advancing workforce integration efforts, and launching innovative healthcare apprenticeship and career pathway programs. Shana sees Emplify Health as an organization that has already cultivated remarkable strengths.
“As I met with leaders across Emplify Health, I was inspired by the commitment to excellence and genuine investment in people to create a culture where accountability and care coexist. It was evident that leaders are expected to achieve exceptional results while never losing sight of the people who make those results possible.”
“I was equally drawn to Emplify Health’s mission, strong values, talented teams and its commitment to serving patients, families, and communities across multiple regions,” Shana shares. “The opportunity to help strengthen talent acquisition, talent development, and learning while supporting the continued integration and growth of the regions is both professionally exciting and personally meaningful.”
Shana is excited for the opportunity to build upon the great work already underway by enhancing employee experience, expanding career pathways, developing future-ready capabilities, and attracting and retaining exceptional talent. In particular, Shana is motivated to help Emplify Health become an employer of choice across Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Minnesota and nationally.
“Shana’s commitment to a people-centered culture makes her a great fit for Emplify Health and a key driver of our strategy to draw talented individuals seeking meaningful work, professional growth, and a values-driven culture,” shares LeAnne Andersen, Emplify Health Chief People Officer. “We are incredibly optimistic about the future of our workforce with Shana joining our leadership team,”
“The opportunity to lead talent acquisition, talent development and learning in an integrated way for a growing health system strongly aligns with both my experience and my passion for workforce strategy,” Shana says. “I look forward to partnering across Emplify Health to strengthen talent strategies and support the colleagues who take care of patients, their families, and our community.”
Shana holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from Cornerstone University (Grand Rapids, Michigan) and is a Senior Certified Professional by the Society for Human Resource Management. She also serves on workforce-related boards and councils, including as a Trustee for the Michigan Labor & Economic Opportunity Workforce Board – the Governor’s Workforce Board.
