STURGEON BAY, Wis. (June 11, 2026) — The Door County Community Foundation welcomed donors, nonprofit partners, volunteers, and community leaders to its annual Celebration of Giving on June 10 at Gordon Lodge in Baileys Harbor.
The afternoon event celebrated the power of philanthropy in Door County, culminating in the presentation of the Richard D. Egan Philanthropic Leadership Award to Steve and Jackie Kane. The award honors individuals whose vision, generosity, and commitment to community embody the spirit of philanthropy championed by the late Richard D. Egan. The award, previously known as the Philanthropist of the Year Award, began in 2006 and honors those that:
- Lead by serving others,
- Give generously of both their money and time,
- Act on issues and opportunities in the community, and
- Have an enthusiasm for community service
The Foundation also recognized three retiring members of its Board of Directors: Inge Alverson Bacon, Jeff Ottum, and Vicki Wilson. Together, they have contributed years of leadership, service, and guidance to the Community Foundation, helping advance its mission and expand its impact throughout Door County.
Through meaningful conversations, shared stories, and expressions of gratitude, the event highlighted the collective effort that makes lasting community impact possible.
