BELOIT, Wis. — Habitat for Humanity Waukesha – Jefferson – Rock (Habitat) has received the donation of five residential lots in the Town of Beloit from the Hendricks family, accelerating the organization’s expansion into Rock County and creating new affordable homeownership opportunities for local families.
The donated lots will be used for the future construction of five affordable single-family homes. Habitat is currently fundraising to support construction of the homes and hopes to begin work on several of the properties this fall before winter conditions arrive.
“The Hendricks family has long believed that strong communities are built when families have access to safe, stable, and affordable places to call home,” said Kevin Hendricks. “Housing challenges cannot be solved by any one organization alone, which is why Habitat for Humanity plays such an important role in the housing continuum. We are proud to support Habitat’s mission and their return to Rock County, and we look forward to seeing local families benefit from the opportunity for homeownership.”
“We are excited to welcome Habitat for Humanity to the Town of Beloit and look forward to the opportunities this partnership can create for local families and our community,” said John Malizio, Town Administrator for the Town of Beloit. “This investment reflects the kind of thoughtful growth we hope to continue supporting in the future, and we are excited about the potential for additional opportunities to work together in the years ahead.”
Habitat leadership says the donation provides an important opportunity to continue expanding access to affordable homeownership and building the partnerships throughout the Beloit area that are essential to making these opportunities possible.
“This generous gift from the Hendricks family creates an incredible opportunity for Habitat and the Town of Beloit,” said Melissa Songco, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Waukesha – Jefferson – Rock. “We are excited to begin building in Beloit and expand affordable homeownership opportunities for local families.”
The five homes are expected to serve families earning approximately 50% to 80% of Area Median Income, helping address a critical gap in the local housing market. Through Habitat’s affordable homeownership model, families purchase their homes with an affordable mortgage and invest sweat equity alongside volunteers and community partners.
A site plan for the donated lots is included with this announcement.
