Firm will donate safe car seats to select nonprofit partners in key Wisconsin communities to support child safety efforts
MADISON, WI (May 11, 2026) – Habush, Habush & Rottier S.C., one of Wisconsin’s leading personal injury law firms, today announced the launch of its “Safe Seats, Safe Kids” community awareness campaign, aimed at helping families better protect their children through proper car seat safety practices.
Timed with National Safe Kids Month in May, the education campaign focuses on a critical but often overlooked issue: expired and recalled car seats that may put children at risk in the event of a crash.
A defective car seat can turn a minor collision into a major life-changing injury. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a properly functioning car seat can reduce the risk of death in infants and toddlers by 50%-70% and the NHTSA has recalled over 4 million car seats since 2003. for various defects. In early 2026, a widely used child car seat model was recalled due to potential safety concerns, reinforcing the need for parents to stay informed and proactive.
“Many parents simply don’t realize that car seats have expiration dates or may be subject to recalls,” said Timothy Trecek, attorney and President/CEO at Habush, Habush & Rottier. “This campaign is about giving Wisconsin families simple, practical information they can use right away to keep their kids safe.”
Through the Safe Seats, Safe Kids campaign, Habush will partner and donate new car seats to nonprofit organizations throughout Wisconsin. The campaign will also share easy-to-follow guidance and educational website and social content, including:
How to locate and check a car seat’s expiration date.
Where to find recall notices and safety updates.
When to replace a car or booster seat and what is the appropriate age/weight for a car seat vs a booster seat.
Best practices for proper installation and use.
The initiative reflects Habush’s long-standing commitment to serving local communities in and beyond the courtroom. Through its work on product liability cases involving defective safety products, the firm has seen firsthand the devastating consequences that can result when something designed to protect families fails. With offices across the state, Habush aims to reach families to reinforce its mission of protecting Wisconsin residents through advocacy and education.
“As a firm rooted in Wisconsin, we believe our responsibility goes beyond legal representation,” Trecek said. “If we can help prevent injuries before they happen, that’s the most meaningful impact we can make.”
