UW-Green Bay: Nourish Farms receives UW-Green Bay’s Council of Trustees Community Service Award

Green Bay, WI—During the UW-Green Bay spring Council of Trustees reception and dinner this spring, Nourish Farms, located in Sheboygan Falls, was presented with the Community Service Award in recognition of their substantial contributions to communities in Northeast Wisconsin.

The Community Service Award is given to recognize community members or organizations who have made significant contributions and have done exceptional community work. The award honors those who have demonstrated outstanding service that has positively impacted the region.

Ryan Laswell, executive director of Nourish Farms, accepted the award on behalf of the organization.

“Nourish is grateful for the recognition of our hard work and contributions to the community,” said Laswell. “Over the last decade our partnership has allowed many dietetic interns to share and apply their knowledge, learn as they support our programs, and not only have they held roles at Nourish, but they have also taken roles with local schools, hospitals and government agencies.  Using the socioecological model and hands-on education that empowers clients, we focus on growing, cooking, sourcing, sharing, and enjoying wholesome foods to foster a healthier community.”

Nourish Farms is a truly inspiring organization that brings people together through the power of good food. By connecting hands-on education with local, sustainable food systems, Nourish Farms empowers children, families and the entire community to grow, cook and enjoy healthy food.

Nourish is situated on 13 acres with gardens, a teaching kitchen and the tools to also visit clients in schools and community locations, which allowed for 1,003 programs and 39,000 engagements offered in 2026.

Their work not only nourishes bodies, but strengthens connections, builds equity and invests in a healthier future for all. The impact of Nourish Farms reaches far beyond the farm, creating lasting change, one meal, one lesson, and one community at a time.
