Hilldale: Celebrates sustainable practices this Earth Day and beyond

Favorite lifestyle destination to host recycling drive with Goodwill on April 18, in addition to green initiatives throughout the year

WHAT:
In celebration of Earth Day and as part of its annual commitment to sustainability, Hilldale, Madison’s premier retail, dining, and lifestyle destination, is thrilled to host a free recycling drive in partnership with Goodwill of South Central Wisconsin on April 18. From 8am-12pm, the Goodwill donation truck will be located in the rear parking lot of L.L. Bean, open for the community to donate electronics, clothing, household items, and more, included here.

Beyond this Earth Day celebration, Hilldale businesses and its property management team are dedicated to green initiatives throughout the year, within key industries, including retail, dining, operations, marketing, and more. Operational efforts such as the planting of drought-resistant plants and trees, use of Bioswale channels to filter stormwater runoff, restaurant composting, and conversion of parking garage and lot lighting to LED are complemented by sustainable onsite amenities, including ample bike racks, Little Free Libraries, and plentiful recycling containers for public use. Hilldale also hosts a Farmers Market from May to October featuring local farms, organic produce, microgreens and plant seedlings.

Environmental efforts are also prioritized within individual businesses at Hilldale, including:

  • Anthropologie—Guests can enjoy $20 off a new $100+ full-price pair of jeans when they recycle their denim items that are at least 90% cotton.
  • Faherty—On April 18, guests can bring a used Faherty item back and receive $15 to spend in-store. Guests can also resell their items to shop Faherty Second Wave, an online retail store for pre-loved pieces anytime. Guests can also score a sustainably made detergent strip with each purchase and enter to win a sustainably made laundry bundle with a $250+ purchase, all happening April 17-23. Lastly, the brand is currently using 72% responsible materials in clothing with the goal of 100% by 2030.
  • Forage Kitchen—Locally-owned eatery focuses on locally-sourced ingredients, and to-go orders include compostable bowls and silverware, plus recyclable lids and cups.
