Free public event marks grand opening of college’s School of Health
KENOSHA, Wis. – As demand for healthcare talent surges across southeastern Wisconsin and the nation, Carthage College invites healthcare professionals, employers, and other community members to a special evening event on Thursday, April 23, focused on the future of care. The event marks the grand opening celebration of the college’s School of Health.
This free event offers a closer look at how healthcare is being reimagined — from emerging roles and new technologies to the teams that will shape the future of patient care. Attendees will gain insight into what these changes mean for our region and the next generation of healthcare professionals.
The evening begins with a 5 p.m. reception in Hedberg Library on campus, 2001 Alford Park Drive. Enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and drinks while networking with industry leaders, faculty, students, and alumni.
At 6 p.m., guest speaker Steve Serota, a leader in healthcare innovation, will offer a keynote address sharing perspectives on the forces transforming care and what they mean for patients, providers, and communities.
Serota is president and COO of Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories, as well as CEO of Atalan, a technology platform that gives practitioners access to a vetted network of clinical laboratories. His work bridges science, operations, and technology, modeling the broad expertise that’s required in an increasingly collaborative healthcare system.
Since welcoming its first students last fall, the Carthage College School of Health has reinforced its commitment to prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals by building employer partnerships, increasing scholarship funding, and expanding facilities. Over half of Carthage’s record 11,000-plus applicants for fall 2025 admission expressed interest in nursing, allied health science, neuroscience, and other thriving programs under this new umbrella.
After the presentation, the celebration will conclude with student representatives signing a formal charter that establishes the School of Health. Guests are then invited to a dessert reception in the adjacent A. F. Siebert Chapel.
The grand opening marks a significant milestone for Carthage and the surrounding region, as both students and those seeking care prepare for dramatic changes in the healthcare industry.
