UW Health: Invites the community to share appreciation for their physicians on National Doctors’ Day

MADISON, Wis. – UW Health is gathering notes of gratitude again this year for its more than 2,000 physicians in honor of National Doctors’ Day.

Every year on March 30, National Doctors’ Day recognizes the physicians who care for the health and wellness of their patients and their communities.

Patients and loved ones can share a note of thanks and appreciation using the UW Health digital community card now through March 30. These notes will appear on a single online platform and will be shared with all UW Health physicians on March 30. These messages will be visible to others, so private or personal information should not be shared.

Physicians at UW Health are committed to providing remarkable care and supporting patients and families at every stage of life, according to Dr. Megan Yanny, pediatrician, UW Health Kids.

“The most fulfilling part of this job is the small interactions I share with families, celebrating victories, navigating challenges and watching children grow,” she said. “Doctors’ Day is a chance to reflect on that partnership, and the kind messages we receive truly mean a great deal to our entire team.”

Doctors’ Day is also a meaningful reminder of the shared purpose that connects physicians to the patients they serve, whether at the bedside or in the lab, advancing medical discoveries that improve diagnosis and treatment, according to Dr. Aimee Becker, chief clinical officer, UW Health.

“We love that our patients send messages for Doctors’ Day, and we hope that no matter where you receive your care, you consider writing a note to a doctor this year to let them know their work is appreciated,” Becker said. “Every message of gratitude strengthens us, especially when we’re helping patients through some of life’s biggest challenges.”

The first Doctors’ Day was observed in 1933. In 1953, the United States House of Representatives passed a resolution commemorating Doctors’ Day. In 1990, President George H.W. Bush signed into law the designation of March 30 as National Doctors’ Day.
