MILWAUKEE – Feb. 24, 2026 – EEI, a national leader in facility systems consulting, announced today the promotion of Al Skodowski to director. With more than 40 years of experience in sustainable building strategy, energy performance, and portfolio-level environmental leadership, Skodowski brings a depth of expertise that has influenced both national programs and landmark projects. In this new role, he will help lead strategic growth initiatives, oversee multidisciplinary teams, and continue advancing high-performance, resilient, and sustainable building solutions nationwide.

A LEED Fellow and former Chair of the Board for the U.S. Green Building Council, Skodowski is widely regarded as one of the industry’s most influential voices in sustainability, energy performance, and zero‑carbon strategy. His leadership has shaped some of the nation’s most impactful programs and projects, including contributions to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Buildings Challenge under the Obama Administration, where he helped develop the program’s initial framework and national adoption strategy. Throughout his career at EEI, he has led high‑profile projects across the country, including:
Willis Tower (Chicago, IL) – Contributed to the achievement of LEED for Existing Buildings Platinum certification for the 4.5-million-square-foot landmark, including major system upgrades and energy performance improvements.
Sustainable Portfolio Operations Leadership – Directed large-scale ENERGY STAR benchmarking and LEED certification initiatives across national real estate portfolios.
Project Haiti Orphanage – Provided volunteer sustainability leadership and guidance on a LEED v4 and WELL-targeted project serving vulnerable children.
Rivion – Founder and Chief Executive Officer, providing advisory services focused on sustainability and building performance.
BOMA Energy & Environment Committee – Served as Chair, advancing operational sustainability standards within the commercial real estate industry.
His expertise spans sustainable building certifications, zero‑carbon portfolio planning, existing building retrofits, and renewable energy procurement programming. His work has earned national recognition, including the USGBC Award for Individual Leadership.
