Rep. Subeck: Statement on passage of Gail’s Law

MADISON – Today, the Wisconsin State Assembly passed Gail’s Law, a bill requiring insurance companies to cover preventive breast cancer screenings for women with dense breast tissue. Representative Lisa Subeck, an original author of the bill, released the following statement:

“Passing Gail’s Law is an unequivocal bipartisan victory for women in Wisconsin. Early detection of breast cancer saves lives, and too many women in our state do not have access to the preventive screenings to detect it.

Today could not have been possible without the brave and tireless advocacy of Gail Zeamer. While she is no longer with us following a long battle with breast cancer, I am grateful that her family has taken up this fight. I am proud to have played a role in this effort, and I am so proud of this coalition for all the work and advocacy that they did along the way.”

Rep. Subeck represents the 79th Assembly District and serves as Chair of the Assembly Democratic Caucus.
