WisDems: REMINDER: Van Orden voted for largest Medicaid cut in history with GOP’s Big Ugly Bill

MADISON, Wis. — As Derrick Van Orden tries to rewrite his record on health care in Washington while cozying up to his billionaire backers, the facts are not on his side. In July, Van Orden voted for the GOP’s Big Ugly Bill, a measure that would slash health care for more than 30,000 of his own constituents. His vote gutted nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid and CHIP, ripping coverage away from working families in order to bankroll bigger tax breaks for billionaires like Elon Musk.

“No amount of fabricated accomplishments will erase the devastating Medicaid cuts Van Orden voted for in the Big Ugly Bill,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Philip Shulman. “Van Orden is scrambling to cover up the truth because he knows it’s indefensible.”
