Feb. 3, 2026 (Milwaukee) Mount Mary University will host “Carrying the Mission Forward,” a launch celebration for the Institute for the Advancement of Women and Children (IAWC).
Founded under the direction of President Isabelle Cherney, the IAWC provides comprehensive tools and essential support to help women thrive in their personal, professional and academic lives. It offers resources such as professional development workshops and seminars, community healthcare initiatives and expanded access to STEM and technology educational programs for women. Impactful projects include:
- Culturabot, an app designed by the Mount Mary Occupational Therapy department and sponsored by Amazon Web Service Health Equity Initiative, that uses generative AI to create culturally responsive healthcare plans
- Summer youth workshops providing hands-on STEM and career exploration programming
- Latina’s Access to Higher Education Summit, a symposium dedicated to increasing the number of Latinx and low-income women enrolled in STEM majors and featuring leaders of Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs)
- Voices of Leadership, an annual event that brings influential women thought leaders to campus to explore timely and impactful topics
The launch gala will take place on Thursday, Mar. 12 from 5-7:30 p.m. in the Alumnae Dining Room, located in Bergstrom Hall on the MMU campus. This event is open to the public (tickets are required). For more information, please visit mtmary.edu/iawc.
