As dangerously cold temperatures loom in the forecast, Acuity Insurance announced today a $50,000 donation to support the Sheboygan County Warming Center, reinforcing a critical safety net for individuals and families facing life-threatening winter conditions.
Acuity’s heart-first leadership approach was further demonstrated through an additional pledge to match community donations made in 2026, dollar for dollar up to an additional $50,000, doubling the potential impact for the warming center’s life-saving mission.
The Sheboygan County Warming Center provides a warm, safe overnight space for people experiencing homelessness or housing instability when temperatures drop to dangerous levels. Operated through community partnerships and volunteers, the center offers more than shelter—it provides dignity, human connection, and protection from extreme cold when survival is at risk.
“With wind chills reaching dangerous levels, this support couldn’t come at a more critical time,” said Liz Kroll, Sheboygan County Warming Center Executive Director. “This support from Acuity and their message to encourage further community support send a powerful message: no one should be left out in the cold. These funds will help ensure we can open our doors, staff our operations, and keep people safe when the weather becomes life-threatening.”
The matching initiative aims to mobilize the broader community in 2026, encouraging individuals, businesses, and organizations to invest directly in protecting vulnerable neighbors during Wisconsin’s harshest months.
“The Warming Center exists at the intersection of compassion and necessity,” said Michael Pellegrino, Sheboygan County Warming Center Board Chair. “Our mission is to provide safety, warmth, and nourishment for our neighbors in need. We currently serve 50 to 60 people each day, and there is always a desire to be able to assist more. Acuity’s compassion and support set an inspiring example, encouraging others in the community to join together in making a real difference and saving lives.”
Guided by a mission rooted in care, integrity, and responsibility, Acuity has a longstanding tradition of supporting the communities it serves through organizations that strengthen community well-being and provide direct assistance to those most in need.
“As temperatures drop, the risk becomes real and immediate,” added Bert Sartori, Sheboygan County Warming Center Board Vice Chair. “Support like this allows us to respond quickly and effectively, because when the cold turns deadly, minutes matter.”
