The Wisconsin OYF Awards Committee would like to Congratulate Lindsay and Eric Baneck, Helenville, WI on their selection as one of the top ten National Finalists vying for the title of National Winner for the Outstanding Young Farmer (NOYF) Awards Program. In early February they will be joining the remaining finalists in Hershey, PA for NOYF Annual Convention.
After college graduation, Lindsay Baneck joined her family cash crop, beef and produce farm in Helenville, WI. She and her husband Eric also own 80 acres of their own. In 2019 Lindsay became the full-time manager of Jelli’s Market where she oversees the planting and harvesting of their 40 acres of fresh produce, hires, trains and supervises 20 seasonal employees, and does most of the bookwork and finances. Jelli’s Market has always provided a good way to promote agriculture to the non-farming community but sharing her knowledge about agriculture has always been Lindsay’s interest. Every summer and fall the farm hosts hundreds of students from summer camps, daycares, classrooms and youth organizations by providing farm tours. She believes when customers and youth interact with a farmer, they develop trust and appreciation of farmers.
For 70 years, young farmers have been honored for their personal achievements in the field of agricultural service to their community, state, and nation. The NOYF Awards Program was founded in 1955 by the U. S. Junior Chamber and is now administered by the Outstanding Farmers of America (OFA). Each year the OFA holds the National Outstanding Young Farmer Congress to honor a new class of National Finalists and name the 4 National Outstanding Young Farmer winners.
Wisconsin is wishing Lindsay and Eric Baneck, the best in the finalist process over the next few weeks. NOYF is sponsored by the Outstanding Farmers of America, John Deere & Company, National Association of County Ag Agents, and the United States Junior Chamber.
