- Supported a complete repeal of the Affordable Care Act
- Van Orden called extending the ACA health care subsidies a “partisan demand”
- Voted for the Republican Big Ugly Bill, jeopardizing health care for 32,000 in his district
MADISON, Wis. — This year, Wisconsin families have been forced to choose between buying presents and affording health care, thanks in part to WI-03 Rep. Derrick Van Orden. From voting for the GOP’s Big Ugly Bill, which is threatening health care for 32,000 of his constituents, to refusing to support an extension of ACA subsidies that keep care affordable for Wisconsinites, Van Orden’s health care record has hurt families across WI-03.
“The holidays should be about families coming together, filled with joy, happiness, and optimism, but thanks to Derrick Van Orden’s disastrous votes to end health care votes, families across Wisconsin are heading into the New Year worried about affording necessary care,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Philip Shulman. “Van Orden’s failure to offer any real solutions to help Wisconsinites afford health care is just one of the many reasons WI-03 will reject him in 2026.”

- Derrick Van Orden was a key vote in passing the GOP’s Big Ugly Bill, which could rip health care away from over 32,000 of his constituents and put a rural hospital at risk of closing in his district.
- After voting for and celebrating these cuts, Van Orden tried to save face by lying, claiming that he secured additional funding for Wisconsin’s Medicaid program.
- Derrick Van Orden supports the full repeal of the Affordable Care Act, which would threaten affordable health insurance coverage for over 313,000 Wisconsinites who are currently enrolled in an ACA insurance plan.
- Van Orden’s campaign website once called for “the last vestiges of the disastrous Obamacare” to be removed.
