MADISON, Wis. — Last month, GOP gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany admitted Republicans don’t have a plan for the Affordable Care Act. While he may not have a plan for Wisconsinites, Tiffany does have an extremist record on everything from voting against extending BadgerCare to making false claims about COVID-19 vaccines.
“Tom Tiffany may not have a plan for health care, but it’s clear that as governor, he would continue his brutal attack on our health care system,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Emily Stuckey. “Whether it’s wanting to raise the price of insulin or voting against critical funding for pediatric research, Tom Tiffany would make Wisconsinites sicker.”
A Brief Look at Tom Tiffany’s Extremist Record on Medical Research and Insulin:
- Tom Tiffany voted against the Affordable Insulin Now Act which capped the price of insulin at $35.
- Tiffany later cosponsored a bill to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 which capped out-of-pocket prescription drug costs for millions of older Americans.
- Tiffany was one of only 28 members of Congress to vote against a bipartisan bill funding research and development programs for prescription and generic drugs and medical devices.
- This included funding for the Orphan Products Grants Programs, which administers several grant programs that provide incentives to promote and accelerate the development of innovative products for the treatment, prevention and diagnosis of rare diseases.
- It also included funding for the Pediatric Device Consortia Grants Program, which addresses health inequities concerning medical device development for children.
