Madison Gas and Electric: Looks to add more solar and battery storage to serve customers

Your community energy company seeks to purchase shares of five solar projects to serve MGE customers cost-effectively while working toward net-zero carbon electricity.

Madison, Wis., Nov. 5, 2025—Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) is seeking approval from the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to add more than 85 megawatts (MW) of solar capacity and 18 MW of battery storage to its generation portfolio.

These projects represent the latest investments in MGE’s efforts to continue reducing carbon as quickly and cost-effectively as it can.
