MADISON, Wisconsin — The Wisconsin Bankers Foundation (WBF) has recognized two retiring board members, Cathy Couey and Paul Adamski, for their many years of service to advancing the Foundation’s mission of expanding financial literacy.
Couey, vice president of operations at Oakwood Bank, concluded her service of seven years, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and commitment to financial capability and community empowerment. Adamski, chairman and founder of The Pineries Bank, has served on the WBF board for twelve years and was recently presented with an award at his bank for his outstanding contributions.
“Both Cathy and Paul have been instrumental in shaping the Foundation’s strategy to promote financial education across Wisconsin,” said Rose Oswald Poels, WBF chair, treasurer, and executive director. “Their many years of dedication have helped ensure that the Foundation has sufficient resources and programs to empower people of all ages with the tools to achieve financial well-being.”
During their tenure on the board, Couey and Adamski helped advance WBF’s most impactful initiatives, including scholarships for Wisconsin students, grants to nonprofit organizations promoting financial literacy, distribution of Reading Raises Interest kits to schools statewide, and free access to Banconomics reports for community bankers. Their commitment strengthened partnerships with schools and community organizations and expanded financial resources to Wisconsin families.
Couey reflected on her service and shared, “It has been an honor to serve on the Wisconsin Bankers Foundation Board of Directors. Throughout my career as a banker, I have been committed to financial literacy. As a board member, I have proudly participated in decisions that affect financial literacy programs, books, technology, and scholarships. I have no doubt that the board will continue these successes in the future.”
Adamski echoed this encouragement, stating, “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve on the Foundation board since its inception. It has been rewarding to see the positive impact WBF’s work has on students, families, and communities throughout Wisconsin. A big thank you to Rose and her staff for making those twelve years a wonderful experience!”
The Wisconsin Bankers Foundation extends its deepest gratitude to Couey and Admaski for their service and looks forward to continuing their legacy of strong leadership and education.
