Growth demonstrates continued support for Chippewa Valley
EAU CLAIRE, WI – Marshfield Clinic Region of Sanford Health is expanding its presence in the Chippewa Valley by creating a multispecialty ambulatory hub at its Lake Hallie clinic as well as expanding emergency care at Marshfield Medical Center-Eau Claire.
Marshfield Clinic Lake Hallie Center, 12961 27th Ave., is in key location at the intersection of Highway 53 and Highway 29 between Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls.
The addition will expand our footprint by 20,000 square feet and will have Family Medicine, Pediatrics, OBGYN, Urgent Care, Pharmacy, Mental Health, Lab, X-ray, Ultrasound, Physical Therapy services and procedural capabilities onsite. There will also be mobile MRI, Mammography and CT services available. The expansion will allow for up to 20 primary care providers and select specialty providers.
The expansion plans are anticipated to be complete in 2026-2027.
“The establishment of a contemporary ambulatory hub in a strategic, centralized location will allow for an improved patient experience for Chippewa Valley patients,” said Brad Groseth, president of Marshfield Medical Center hospitals in Eau Claire, Rice Lake and Ladysmith. “By redesigning our clinic footprint, we provide appropriate services, improve patient flow and enhance patient convenience. This allows us to keep patients in their best health, provide specialist referrals, maintain medications, update vaccinations and have appropriate screenings, all with close access to our hospital in Eau Claire if emergency care is needed.”
To improve access and reduce wait times, urgent care was moved in August from MMC-Eau Claire to Marshfield Clinic Oakwood Center. This move will provide faster, more convenient care for non-emergency needs, like minor injuries or infections, while allowing MMC-Eau Claire to focus on emergency services.
The urgent care relocation will lead to expanded emergency services at MMC-Eau Claire by adding nine beds, and an expanded waiting room, triage areas and centralized registration to improve patient flow. Enhancements also include upgraded equipment and a new ambulance rig with a 24/7 dedicated crew to support patient transfers. When the expansion is complete, the Emergency Department will have 14 rooms, six fast-track rooms and three observation unit beds. The Emergency Department plans are anticipated to be complete in 2026-2027.
“Chippewa Valley patients receiving care at Marshfield Clinic need access to top-notch care close to home and in a timely fashion to get back to their best health,” said Dr. Brandon Parkhurst, vice president of medical affairs. “The expansion of ambulatory and emergency care, and other future plans we have in the works, shows our continued commitment to the healthcare needs in the Chippewa Valley.”
