MADISON, WI — Following Governor Tony Evers’ letter opposing potential changes to the Solar for All grant program, Americans for Prosperity–Wisconsin (AFP-WI), today, is pushing back on the false promise of subsidized energy schemes that only raise costs for ratepayers.
AFP-WI State Director Megan Novak issued the following statement:
“Governor Evers’ newfound concern over energy costs is curious, given his own Public Service Commission appointees have approved billions in utility rate hikes on Wisconsin families in recent years. The truth is, grants for intermittent energy sources like solar don’t lower costs. They drive costs up for everyone else.
“President Trump is right to question the wisdom of taxpayer-subsidized energy programs that rig the market. Dismantling these costly drivers ensures a level playing field for all energy sources so families can benefit from lower prices, not politically favored technologies.
“Instead of pushing top-down green energy mandates, we should be focused on expanding energy choice, unleashing reliable domestic production, and reforming regulatory barriers that make it harder to build the infrastructure we need.”
AFP-Wisconsin will continue to champion policies that prioritize people over politics and support energy abundance for every Wisconsinite.
