Green Bay, Wis.—Campus Pride chose 30 schools this year for the 2021 Best of the Best LGBTQ-Friendly Colleges & Universities List. The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is once again among the top.
This list is based on overall ratings on the Campus Pride Index and specific LGBTQ-inclusive benchmark measures. In order to be in the “Best of the Best” listing, an institution had to score the highest percentages in the LGBTQ-friendly benchmarks for policies, programs and practices.
According to UW-Green Bay’s Interim Assistant Vice Chancellor of Inclusive Excellence Stacie Christian, UW-Green Bay has made the list since 2014.
“This is a campus effort, and not just the effort from the Pride Center,” Christian said. Noteworthy:
- UW-Green Bay expanded its Marinette and Green Bay Pride Center campus locations to Manitowoc and Sheboygan.
- Pride Center services have expanded with middle- and high-school campus in which the Pride Center La Force Foundation interns can utilize new leadership skills
- The Pride Center and University provided training for University Police, faculty and staff, wellness groups, housing staff and provided academic programming.
- Additionally, planning has begun to provide training to the Kress Center to support LGBTQ+ student athletes.
The announcement features 30 four-year campuses from across the country that have shown themselves to be deeply committed to LGBTQ students, earning a perfect score of 5 out of 5 stars on the Campus Pride Index, the definitive national benchmarking tool tracking LGBTQ-friendly policies, programs, and practices.
