Milwaukee, WI — A new website examining public records related to decisions made under Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley launched today, just one day before the County Executive’s annual State of the County address.
The site, https://www.whokilledthestreetsofoldmilwaukee.org/, presents timelines and publicly available documents showing how historic public museum assets — including the beloved “Streets of Old Milwaukee” — were transferred to a private nonprofit organization during the Crowley administration as part of the transition to the new museum facility.
“We set out trying to unravel how the Streets, dioramas, and donated items in the European Village suddenly became the property of a private nonprofit organization,” said Dave Riedel, creator of whokilledthestreetsofoldmilwaukee.org and Board Member of PreserveMKE. “What we found was a trail of agreements and terminology shifting that was methodical and appears to be intentional. It all funneled down to one public figure, David Crowley.”
Journalists and members of the public are encouraged to review the documents and timelines presented on the site
