MILWAUKEE – March 18, 2026 – Today, the BRAVE (Building Resilience through Action in Veterans and First Responders) program was honored to welcome Secretary James Bond from the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs for a tour of the program’s new, expanded clinic space located in the Milwaukee County Research Park.
During his visit, Secretary Bond heard from clinic leaders about the rapid growth of the BRAVE program since it launched in February 2024 and new treatments that can now be offered due to the larger space, as well as met with military veterans who are coping with mild traumatic brain injuries and participating in the unique outpatient program.
The BRAVE program — an initiative of the Wisconsin Institute of NeuroScience (WINS), a partnership of Children’s Wisconsin, the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network, the Medical College of Wisconsin, and the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center — is the Midwest’s only comprehensive program for treating mild traumatic brain injuries, also known as concussions, in veterans and first responders. The intense, three-week outpatient program provides specialized diagnostic and interdisciplinary rehabilitation services tailored to meet the physical and psychological needs of each program participant.
