Encompass Wisconsin: Local advocate and pediatrician takes on 24-hour “wheeling” challenge to support early childhood education during Give Big Green Bay

GREEN BAY, WI (February 23, 2026) — During this year’s Give Big Green Bay, local advocate and Pediatrician Holly Maes is taking on a unique and inspiring challenge: wheeling her wheelchair continuously along the Fox River Trail for all 24 hours of the giving event to raise funds for Encompass Early Education and Care, a nonprofit dedicated to making high-quality child care accessible and affordable for families across Northeast Wisconsin.

From noon on February 25 through noon on February 26, Holly will wheel hour by hour in support of young children and working families, inviting the community to join her by pledging $1 to $100 per hour wheeled or making a gift of any size.

“This is a wheely big deal,” Holly shared. “Early childhood is when young brains are developing at an incredible rate—making over one million neural connections every second. If my wheeling can help make care possible for even one more family, it’s worth every push.”

Funds raised through Holly’s peer-to-peer campaign will support Encompass’s mission to provide high-quality early education, care, and family support, including tuition assistance for families who otherwise could not afford care. More than half of the children served by Encompass receive some form of financial assistance, helping parents remain in the workforce while their children learn and thrive.

Community members can support Holly’s “Wheeling for Encompass” fundraiser by visiting the Give Big Green Bay page and selecting her fundraiser under Encompass anytime during the 24-hour event. Giving is open February 25 at noon through February 26 at noon.
